Bill Sproul, Sproul Ranch, Flint Hills Nov.2025
Taken at Mr. Sproul’s ranch near Sedan, Kansas, after our interview for my series Cowboys of Conservation. A delightful human being and a true conservationist at heart, Bill was camera shy. I was happy to capture this photo, even if the noon-day sun didn’t provide the most flattering light.
Smoky Valley Ranch, October 2025
One of the most pristine examples of native prairie remaining in the Southern High Plains, in striking autumn color. Taken for my series Cowboys of Conservation.

I accompanied Dr. Wagner (who is also my wife), a researcher at the University of Kansas, to Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratories to conduct field research and take photos for her lab.
